Casa da Gente, meaning Our House, was designed to foster a unique and inclusive experience for the elderly. Conceived for an intergenerational family, the project creates a shared environment that encourages connection between older and younger generations.
Located on a predominantly flat site with a slight slope in the northwest portion, the house is composed of three ground-level blocks unified by a solid concrete slab. This slab forms a central living space anchored by a spacious atrium—an open, communal area that serves as the heart of the home.
The program is organized into clearly defined sectors. Private areas, such as bedrooms, service areas, and the kitchen, are housed within the separate blocks, while collective social spaces are situated beneath the unifying concrete slab.
The internal layout was shaped by circulation flows, carefully planned to accommodate the distinct movements of residents, employees, guests, and those engaged in leisure and sports activities. This functional zoning ensures comfort, autonomy, and accessibility for all users.
The spaces between the blocks form green pockets—intimate garden areas designed to offer moments of contemplation and connection with the surrounding landscape.
At the main entrance, a curved architectural volume houses the residence's library, creating a welcoming focal point and reinforcing the home's identity as a space of knowledge, warmth, and shared memory.
