Caputo Bastos & Fruet is a distinguished law firm for which we developed a retrofit project that repositions the practice at the forefront of contemporary architecture and design.

The existing building was wrapped in a translucent skin made of perforated steel panels, which serves both as a sunshade and a privacy screen for the upper-floor openings. This element acts as the primary architectural interface between the original structure and the new interventions, reinforcing the unity of the whole while bringing a contemporary expression.

A defining sculptural feature of the project is the three-dimensional curved corten steel fence. Its warm tones and organic form introduce movement and elegance to the composition, offering a striking contrast to the linearity of the steel façade. This gesture creates a visual dialogue between tradition and innovation, aligning the firm's classical identity with a bold, modern design language.

The freijó wood panels, the corten steel main door and the tecnocement finishings also bring contrasts to the inner spaces, combining again traditional and innovative materials that contrast beautifully.

Inside, the material palette continues this interplay. Freijó wood panels, a corten steel main door, and tecnocement surfaces blend traditional textures with modern finishes, creating a refined and welcoming interior that expresses warmth, depth, and sophistication.

While the main building houses offices and meeting rooms, a separate external auditorium was designed to accommodate lectures, presentations, and small public gatherings. This flexible, inviting space encourages dialogue and community engagement, with a layout that ensures comfort, accessibility, and an enhanced user experience through well-considered acoustics and lighting.

Architecturally, the auditorium is distinguished by a bold corten steel beam that crowns the structure and extends outward to form an elegant outdoor foyer. This extension not only adds architectural character and shelter but also frames a row of tall, existing palm trees—an iconic feature of the site that has been carefully preserved. The result is a seamless integration of architecture and landscape, reinforcing the project’s commitment to honoring its context while offering a dignified and functional public space.
